IPO GMP (Grey Market Premium) is the extra amount, over and above the issue price, at which IPO shares trade unofficially in the grey market before they list on the exchange. It reflects market sentiment about expected listing gains and is indicative only, not investment advice.
How is the estimated listing price calculated from GMP?
The estimated listing price is calculated by adding the GMP to the upper end of the IPO price band. For example, if the price band is Rs 100 and the GMP is Rs 30, the estimated listing price is around Rs 130. Actual listing prices can differ significantly.
Is grey market premium reliable?
GMP is an unofficial, sentiment-driven indicator and can change rapidly before listing. It is not regulated and should not be the sole basis for an investment decision.
